My love of narrative, often leads me to design my artworks as book pieces. I aim for a visual weaving of text and images, and the merging of disparate imagery. I enjoy playing with words and the concepts behind them. “Transformed” can become “Trance
Formed” and the “Siren/Sphinx/Vampire” can entice through the Vamp of a high-heeled shoe. My work alludes to the dangers inherent in temptation. It talks about the cyclical nature of history, the ushering in of new epochs, and the possibility of gaining knowledge and power even from violent events.
In a sense, I’m always the subject of my paintings, as I’m always the subject of my dreams. I turn these ideas into metaphors, myths and stories. Many of my artworks are produced through “Verre Eglomisé, (glass gilding, and reverse painting on glass). I combine this process with photography, drawing, digital transfers and silkscreen. I use these reflective, gilded metallic surfaces to symbolize dreams, the immortal gods and goddesses, and the world on the other side of the looking glass where the extraordinary
exists and entices.
